Dr. Akins has been part of the Centra Care Family since 2002. She earned her Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from the College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines, Iowa and completed her Residency and Internship at Des Moines General Hospital. As a Centra Care physician, she is pediatric and adult trained; Florida Hospital and Board Certified in Family Medicine and Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery. She has a special interest in Women's Health and conducts clinical research in the study of hypertension, depression, migraines and irritable bowel syndrome.
